Mission Statement
The Athletic Training profession is recognized by the American Medical Association as an allied health profession and NATABOC certified Athletic Trainers, ATC's, as allied health care providers. Drew University Athletic Training Staff is committed to providing quality medical service to every student athlete. The sports medical care the athletic training staff and team physician provide shall be delivered with objectivity and a conscious blend of concern for the student/athletes' current participation goals and future ability to maintain a healthy lifestyle. On site medical services include, but are not limited to, prevention, evaluation and treatment of injuries and illnesses, and rehabilitation services.
In order to provide such comprehensive medical care, the sports medicine department maintains a board certified and specialty trained team physician. The team physician will have a comprehensive referral source of other specialty-trained physicians, including orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, and cardiologists.

Insurance Claims Information
All student-athletes are required to have personal health insurance. This insurance may be through a parent's plan or purchased through Student Health Services. As stated in the Consent Form For Drew Athletes, intercollegiate sports injuries sustained
by a student-athlete who is officially in their traditional or nontraditional season are covered by the Drew Athletic Insurance Policy. I further understand that if an intercollegiate athlete is also covered under a parent's plan, the parent plan pays first, and the athletic insurance policy pays second. The Drew Athletic Insurance Policy will pay second after the parent plan up to $90,000, or first when the student insurance plan is the student's only insurance. In the unlikely event of an extreme injury, the NCAA catastrophic insurance will cover costs that exceed $90,000. Any injuries sustained during the offseason including non-mandatory "captains practices" are not covered by the Drew Athletics Insurance Policy.Â
